Taka Ishii Gallery was established in 1994, and over the past 20 years has dealt with the works of Japan’s leading photographers including Nobuyoshi Araki and Daido Moriyama, as well as promoting some of the most anticipated up and coming Japanese artists. Furthermore, the gallery serves to actively introduce the currents of contemporary art in Europe and the United States to the Japanese audience through its numerous exhibitions with highly acclaimed international artists. In addition to its two galleries in Tokyo, Taka Ishii Gallery currently operates gallery spaces in both New York and Paris. In 2014, Takayuki Ishii, owner and founder of Taka Ishii Gallery, established the Fine-Art Photography Association (FAPA) in a move to further nurture the growth of Japan’s developing photography market through various events and activities such as the “daikanyama photo fair.
