ARTISTS
Arata Isozaki
Architect. Born in Oita Prefecture in 1931, Arata Isozaki completed both undergraduate and postgraduate studies in architecture at the University of Tokyo. He established Arata Isozaki Atelier when he was 32 years old. Known as a leading figure in postmodern architecture, he has designed a number of architectural structures both in Japan and abroad, including Oita Prefectural Library, Tsukuba Center Building, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. Currently based overseas, Isozaki undertakes experimental architecture projects. He has received numerous awards including prizes from the Architectural Institute of Japan and the Venice Biennale’s Golden Lion for Best National Participant.
