Yasuhiro Suzuki’s signature work “Aerial Being” will appear on the Grass Square. This figural piece is composed of transparent materials, merging with unseen elements to form a sculpture molded from the atmosphere. Come to the Grass Square to experience the sensation of this piece.

ARTISTS

Yasuhiro Suzuki

Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1979. Graduated from Department of Design, Tokyo Zokei University in 2001. He makes works that take a fresh, unique “selection” of phenomena seen every day. He also actively engages in commissioned work for public spaces and actively collaborates with university research institutes and corporations.
At the Setouchi International Art Festival in 2010, he exhibited an 11-meter-long “Ship of the Zipper.” In 2014 he presented the Yasuhiro Suzuki exhibition “Neighborhood Earth” at Art Tower Mito and opened a “laboratory” for the Yasuhiro Suzuki exhibition “Selection” at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. He also exhibited as the Japanese representative at the First London Design Biennale in 2016 and presented the one-man exhibition “Yasuhiro Suzuki: Spontaneous Garden” at the Hakone Open-Air Museum in 2017 and 2018. He is Associate Professor of the Department of Scenography, Display and Fashion Design, Musashino Art University and Guest Researcher at the Nakamura Laboratory of the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, University of Tokyo. Winner of the 2014 Mainichi Design Prize. Among his published works are the collections “Mabataki to Habataki” (Twinkling and Fluttering) and “Kinjo no Chikyu” (Neighborhood Earth) (Seigensha Art Publishing), and the illustrated books “Boku no Nyanta” (My Nyanta) and “Ringo to Kendama.” (Apple and Kendama) (Bronze Shinsha)
