Masashi Kawamura
Kawamura was born in 1979 in Tokyo, and grew up in San Francisco. After working at creative agencies overseas like 180 Amsterdam, BBH New York, and Wieden+Kennedy New York, he founded PARTY, a creative lab based in Tokyo and New York, where he currently serves as creative director. As well as handling campaigns for such global brands as Toyota and Google, Kawamura is also involved in various other projects, ranging from product design – the flipbook Rainbow in your hand is one example – to directing music videos for songs like SOUR’s “Tone of Everyday” and androp’s “Bright Siren.” He has received a Gold Medal at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, an Excellence Award at the Japan Media Art Festival, a Gold Cube at New York’s ADC Awards, and a Grand Prix at the One Show Design Awards, among other major prizes. He has also been invited to speak at many international conferences, including TEDxTokyo, Hong Kong’s BoDW, and South Africa’s Design Indaba; he was selected as one of Creativity magazine’s “50 global creators” in 2011, and as one of Fast Company magazine’s “100 most creative people in business” in 2012.
