Takuro Tamayama is adept at transforming existing spaces into unfamiliar scenes, and his new installation will be exhibited in the 1st floor lobby. Two concrete cones measuring 16- and 8-meters tall stand with an imposing presence in the lobby’s stretching horizontal layout designed by Kisho Kurokawa. Tamayama will treat the forms of these cones as a motif, creating an artwork of light that stimulates an awareness of the entire space.

Takuro Tamayama

Born in Gifu, 1990. Lives and works in Tokyo.
After graduating from Aichi University of the Arts, he completed the master’s program at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2015.
His meticulously composed spaces make reference to familiar imagery, incorporating various objects such as furniture and everyday items, color gradations expressed through video, kinetic movement, and vivid lighting and sound. Major recent exhibitions include From the Museum Collection 2021: Third Period (Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, 2022), Anything will slip off / If cut diagonally (ANOMALY, 2021), and VISION part 1: On Light / Light On : in the Celebration of 25th Anniversary of the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art (Toyota Municipal Museum of Art, 2020).
