This live concert features OKI, who is of Asahikawa Ainu heritage, and MAREWREW, a female vocal group whose theme is to regenerate and perpetuate the old and new Ainu traditional “Upopo” songs from Hokkaido and Karafuto. We hope you’ll enjoy the innovative sound created with the motto “to enjoy Ainu traditions developed by the Ainu themselves.”

OKI+MAREWREW
OKI has taken an original approach using the tonkori, a stringed instrument of the Sakhalin Ainu people, in developing his unique musical style. He has performed with OKI DUB AINU BAND at many overseas music festivals in Africa, Europe, Asia, etc.
MAREWREW is a 3-woman vocal group consisting of Rekpo / Hisae / Mayunkiki. They perform live in Japan and abroad, and also give workshops on singing and dancing.
