The Taiwanese art scene has now been very vibrant. Artists are active both at home and abroad, as evidenced by the numerous programs presented at the Taiwan Pavilion set up at the “Cultural Olympiad,” an event related to the Paris Olympics and Paralympics this summer. Taipei is also home to numerous museums and art centers, including the Fubon Art Museum which opened in Taipei this year garnering much attention, and art galleries are springing up one after another. In addition to the Taipei Biennale that has a long history, art festivals are now being held in various parts of Taiwan, including the outlying islands.
What is it that makes the Taiwanese scene so vibrant? Artists, and curators who are visiting Japan for Roppongi Art Night will take the stage to talk about the Taiwanese art scene today.
