At the annual summer festival held in Kōchi, a region closely associated with Ekin, the artist’s kabuki-themed folding screens are displayed at shrines and along shopping streets, creating a fantastical scene illuminated by candles and lanterns. In connection with the exhibition Ekin: A Genius Painter from Tosa at the End of the Edo Period, we will present a space where you can experience Kōchi’s summer festival.
