Detail
It has been over half a century since the profession of illustrator became recognized in Japan. Illustration, which has been nurtured within the lineage of post-war graphic design, continues to thrive today. It can be said that the field has evolved while balancing both “cutting-edge expression” and “social dissemination.” This project focuses on the work of illustrators, bringing together their best works across various media. Through the work of members of the Tokyo Illustrators Society, who are active across a wide range of generations, we aim to showcase the evolution of illustration over the past 30 years, its social roles, and the captivating essence of the art form.
