Open Reel Ensemble

This music group consists of Ei Wada, Haruka Yoshida, and Masaru Yoshida, who use reel-to-reel tape recorders as musical instruments. They are possessed by their own delusional vision of a “Magnetikpunk world,” where magnetic technology has evolved far beyond reality, and treat these machines as “magnetic folk instruments.” Their unique style and musicality have been highly acclaimed, leading to their debut album on a label led by Ryuichi Sakamoto. They continue to explore new possibilities of magnetic music in their daily practice and activities.
