Detail
One Thousand and One Attempts to Be an Ocean is a video work composed of “satisfying videos”—short, repetitive clips widely circulated online for their soothing and visually pleasing effects. Yuyan Wang collects and reassembles these found images, creating a continuous flow of waves, movements, and recurring patterns. Through rapid repetition and rhythmic editing, the images gradually lose their original context and transform into an abstract, hypnotic sequence reminiscent of trance and minimal music. Evoking the sensation of being immersed in an endless ocean of images, the work reflects on our desire to synchronize with the rhythms of our digital environment, while exploring the overwhelming circulation and accumulation of images in today’s information society.
