Detail
From Picasso to Léger, the motif of bathers has long been a recurring theme in modern painting. This performance offers a lively and humorous reinterpretation of that subject. It features a pair of large figures—clad in striped swimsuits made entirely of pleated tulle—inhabiting an imaginary seaside world. The duo strikes various poses typical of beachgoers: sunbathing, lounging, and playing. Moving leisurely alongside two large blue towels and a yellow tulle ball, they seem to evoke the sea and the sun through a playful and poetic visual language.

Artist
Clédat & Petitpierre
Working together since the 1986, partners in both their personal lives and artistic practice, they work as sculptors, performers, and choreographers, creating a unique body of work centered on the human body in a state of constant transformation and motion. Their performances fuse dance with visual art, conjuring dreamlike, poetic worlds in which the performers undergo striking transformations. As both sculptors and performance artists, they blur the boundaries between exhibitions, galleries, museums, public spaces, and theaters. They pioneered the concept of activated sculpture, in which they themselves inhabit the works and breathe life into them through subtle performance.
