Detail
This collaborative work brings together the diverse and distinctive artistic expressions of 20 artists with disabilities from studio FLAT and the work of Japanese painter Keiko Tsuyuki.
For many years, Tsuyuki has donated her artwork to welfare facilities across Japan. For this collaboration, she repurposed the reverse sides of shikishi boards on which she had painted scenes of nature in a diary-like style, creating a new canvas where her brushwork resonates with the unique expressions of the studio FLAT artists.
Through this collaboration, the artists share a message of hope for an inclusive society and celebrate the diversity of beauty.
L’Oréal Japan has supported this project by repurposing products originally destined for disposal as materials for parts of the shikishi boards and paints used in the artwork.

studio FLAT
studio FLAT is a nonprofit art studio dedicated to creating diverse and distinctive works under the concept of “Connecting and Working Through Art, With or Without Disabilities.” The studio supports artists with disabilities in developing their creative practices and sharing their unique artistic expressions.
In collaboration with L’Oréal Japan, studio FLAT has worked on creative projects that upcycle cosmetics originally destined for disposal into paint. Through initiatives such as introducing art subscriptions in offices, the studio also supports artists in achieving greater independence while contributing to the creation of a more inclusive society.
Through their art, studio FLAT creates new opportunities for dialogue and connection between people and society, demonstrating the power of art to bring people together.
