Detail
Human Landscape in MIDTOWN consists of three lightbox sculptures based on the human form and a sign bearing the word MIDTOWN. The title derives from Human Landscape, a 2020 solo exhibition centered on the three sculptures. The artist, who has been creating works based on signage since 2000, conceived these human-figure lightbox sculptures by using fluorescent lights as a skeletal framework; the resulting forms evoked mountain ridges or landscapes from some other, distant place. What kind of landscape will emerge within Tokyo Midtown?
