Detail
Maldonne, Leïla Ka’s first ensemble piece, has been touring globally for three years—including sold-out performances at the Olympia in Paris and stops in Colombia, the United States, and Serbia. Bluff was created as a condensed version of Maldonne. On stage, four women dance in dresses that soar, shimmer, burst with energy, bounce, drag across the floor, and collapse. As the dancers grapple with these dresses—which radiate dazzling light, exert control, or embody rebellion—the work explores the nature of femininity.

Artist
Leïla Ka
Ka has created choreography for Beyoncé, the César Awards ceremony, Zaho de Sagazan, and the Chilean National Ballet, among others. Drawing inspiration from both urban and contemporary dance, she established her own signature style in just a few years. After entering the world of street and urban dance, she passed an audition for Maguy Marin without having received formal dance training, and began her career as a dancer in Marin’s masterpiece May B before moving on to her own choreography. Her first three works—solos and duets—achieved global success, with performances in over 20 countries. Her first ensemble piece, Maldonne, became a worldwide phenomenon within just a few months; it has toured globally for three years, including a sold-out performance at the Olympia in Paris and shows in locations ranging from Colombia and the United States to Serbia.
