Detail
1. tamanaramen DANCE IS BREATHING
This work is an audiovisual performance exploring the themes of dance, breath, and the ever-changing body. Conceiving the body as a “”vessel where memories and emotions temporarily reside,”” it delineates the boundaries between the transient and the enduring, grounded in the philosophy of constant flux.
The performance layers organic visuals—transforming like blooming and scattering flora or fluid matter—with fragments of cities recorded in Europe, fusing them with a soundscape that traverses ambient, IDM, and techno. By stirring the audience’s perception and physical senses through repetitive beats and dance, it conjures an audiovisual ritual for the continuously breathing body, where personal memory and collective euphoria intersect.
tamanaramen is an audiovisual unit based in Tokyo and London, formed by sisters Hana, a visual artist, and Pikam, a singer/producer. Blending whisper-like vocals, abstract sound design, and visual expression, they create immersive sensory experiences where sound and image melt together. They have performed at international festivals including MUTEK Japan and SXSW,
