Detail
An ambitious and unconventional art project that blends architectural elements with an interactive approach. People of all ages and backgrounds—from children and adults to seniors—are invited to take part. The project is constructed using only cardboard boxes and adhesive tape. Standing 12 meters tall, the structure will be built entirely through the collective effort of participants, without the use of cranes or heavy machinery. This grand-scale project encompasses the entire process: construction, exhibition, and eventual dismantling. The work is inspired by the San-gedatsu-mon (Three Gates of Liberation) at Zojoji Temple in Minato Ward—a historic landmark and the temple’s iconic main entrance, which is currently undergoing preservation work (scheduled from September 2024 to August 2032)

Artist
Olivier Grossetête
Born in Paris in 1973, Grossetête creates works that infuse everyday life with poetry and dreams while questioning social and physical laws. His work ranges from collages incorporating administrative documents and the creation of poetic objects to large-scale architectural projects using cardboard. Having collaborated with local communities to build over 350 structures across five continents, he explores the symbolism of architecture, human connections, our relationship with the world, and the way we live and act together.
