Each of 138 street lights is distinctively decorated. The 4th Designers Flag Contest 2012 is part of a project to bring art and design into the community. This time its theme is "smile." Selected works become the street light flags, creating a community gallery. From this gallery, 138 smiles help Japan feel to more positive about the future.

As part of the project to promote the town’s Art & Design identity, the 4th Roppongi Designers Flag Contest transforms the streets of Roppongi into a gallery of vivid flags based on the winning designs. This year’s theme of “Smiling Faces” has resulted in 138 happy flags that energize Japan and bring a smile to the face of Art Night visitors.

Part of Roppongi's attraction is the human warmth and the many different expressions. The theme for the 4th Roppongi Photo Contest was "cutting out your discovery of the real face of Roppongi from any angle." There were a large number of entries, so only the judges' selections are exhibited. It's fascinating to see all the different Roppongis!

If you are interested in the "Mobile Phone Photo Contest", please access to the Roppongi Shopping Area Mobile Site, How to do: You actually take a photograph of the landscape following on the instruction. There will be prize for the winner. Of course, posting a photograph from your smart phone is totally fine! We look forward to your active participation in this event!
